Join Chicago Booth Insights in Boston as John R. Birge, Jerry W. and Carol Lee Levin Professor of Operations Management at Chicago Booth, discusses how to streamline the process of drug approval and customizing medicine. Professor Birge has been co-developing a model for clinical trials that could speed up research, save money, and even allow treatments for patients to be customized in order to best fit their care. This would greatly impact the current traditional clinical trial process which for new drugs is increasingly expensive and lengthy. From 1995 to 2005, the average length of a clinical trial increased by 70 percent, and the cost of a single trial went up to as much as $100 million. Register here.
