About the ITM

The University of Chicago Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM) is the administrative unit for our CTSA program. It operates across divisional, departmental, and professional school lines to generate new research methods, technologies, and molecular target discovery. The ITM complements and enhances existing UC Institutes (such as the Institute for Genomics and System Biology, Institute for Biophysical Dynamics, and others) and Centers (such as the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center, Center for Interdisciplinary Health Disparities Research, Center for Health and the Social Sciences, Diabetes Research and Training Center, MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics, and others). Furthermore, the ITM incorporates the multiple well-regarded capabilities of our Clinical Resource Center, supports Community aspects of our clinical and translational research efforts in concert with the Urban Health Initiative, and provides the primary focus for CTSA interaction with our affiliated institutions – Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) and the Pritzker Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The ITM is our catalytic site for training the next generation of translational scientists.
